New Builds in Newent, Gloucestershire
Build your dream home in Newent
Ever looked at a plot of land in the Forest of Dean and pictured a perfect family home sitting right there? Starting a new build is an incredible journey, but let’s be honest, it is also a massive undertaking. You need more than just a contractor; you need a team that cares about the final centimetre of skirting board as much as the foundation. At DP Carpentry and Building LTD, we specialise in bringing those architectural drawings to life with a level of detail that mass-market developers often skip. Whether you are planning a standalone detached house or a small residential development, we bring high-spec craftsmanship to every corner of the project.

How it works in three simple steps
First, you tell us about your project. Call us or send a message through the form on this page. A few lines and your postcode is plenty to start.
Next, we come out to see you. We look at the space, listen to what you want and talk through the options. Then you get a detailed quote, so you know exactly where you stand.
Finally, once you are happy, we get to work. We keep you updated as the job goes, keep the site tidy and clean up when we finish.
That's it. No pressure and no jargon. Just clear answers and good work.
Why Choose Our Professional New Build Construction?
Strong foundations with precise first fix carpentry
The 'skeleton' of your home determines how everything else fits together. If the roof trusses or stud walls aren't spot on, you will feel it later when the doors do not hang quite right or the floors creak. Our first fix carpentry services ensure the core of your new build is structurally perfect. We handle everything from floor joists and roof structures to the internal wall frames. Because we are carpenters at heart, we think about how the structural work affects the finishing stages, which means fewer headaches for you as the build moves through the shell and core phases.
Snag-free finishes that feel like home
We have all heard those horror stories about new builds where the finishing is, well, a bit rushed. You should not have to spend your first six months in a new home chasing a builder to fix wonky architraves or gaps in the flooring. Our second fix carpentry is where our passion for detail really shines. We focus on hanging internal doors so they click shut perfectly and fitting high-end skirting and architraves that look seamless. It is these finishing touches—the ones you see and touch every day—that transform a building site into a high-spec living space you are proud to own.
Navigating Forest of Dean building regulations
Building in areas like Newent, Mitcheldean, or Lydney requires a good understanding of local character and planning rules. The Forest of Dean has a unique architectural heritage, and we make sure our new builds respect that aesthetic while meeting modern standards. We stay fully compliant with all Building Regulations, including Part L for energy efficiency, ensuring your home is as sustainable as it is beautiful. If you are a self-builder, we can take the weight off your shoulders by managing the entire process from groundworks to the final second-fix installation, keeping everything on programme and within budget.
Bespoke solutions for modern Gloucestershire living
Why settle for a 'cookie-cutter' layout when you can have a home designed specifically for your lifestyle? Perhaps you want a kitchen that acts as the true heart of the home, or maybe you need a custom-built staircase that makes a statement in the hallway. We do not just follow a template; we listen to what you actually need. From integrated fitted bedrooms to bespoke media units, we can incorporate custom joinery into your new build that adds genuine character and value. We treat every Newent project as if we were building it for ourselves, with total transparency and clear, itemised quotes.
